20's Plenty for Chichester

Welcome to Chichester's First Festival of Slow

Festival of Slow is taking place on Saturday 28th June 2014.  We have closed Whyke Lane North between 2 and 7 pm for residents to enjoy and relax in.  Come and help us transform the space into an oasis of calm and tranquillity in the midst of the traffic chaos going on around us.

Bring a plant and a deck chair to relax.  Afternoon Tea will be served from 4-6pm.  Make some space in your life to chill out, think about how we use our communal space - our roads.

Do we use them enough?

Are they wasted space given over primarily to the parking our cars?

Could we use them more profitably for other things?

Do we need more benches on our streets for people to sit down and rest?

Do we rush around too much?

Can we give people more space to go with the flow?  Activities for young and old.  Entry free, donations welcome for the tea.

Slow Down and Smell the Roses.

Volunteers go out in teams. They do not stop moving traffic.  The work involves using roadside speed monitoring equipment, taking the number plates of offenders and giving details to the police.  It is not technical or difficult and full training is given.  You do not have to be a driver and will not be speaking to motorists.

If you could help for an hour or two on roads near you, please do get in touch.

Thank you!
